I never really gave much thought to doing kiddush in shuls on Friday nights, as we say that kiddush must be in a place of one's meal (and as meals are not often held there, this would be a problem), but recently we were working on a pericope of the Talmud and some of its commentators upon this topic. I am not sure how I think about this matter in full, yet, but I had to turn in a three-part paper on this subject today, so if people want to look at it and don't mind Hebrew, you can check it out.

My fellow classmate, Ben Greenberg, has also posted his paper on this subject.
